I prefer to repair my Kapton tape whenever I can. The problem of cutting small patches from sticky tape and trying to round the edges is nearly impossible (repairs fail when corners lift. Making patches round, solves this problem).

Here's a nifty way to make round repair buttons that can be placed at a moment's notice.

1. Place Kapton tape onto a clean smooth, plastic surface to be used as a substrate. I used a scrap piece of styrene.

2. Use a circle template to scribe circles of various sizes. Cut through the tape and into the substrate.

3. I cut quite a few at a time and keep the card in the printer. Whenever I tear the tape on my build plate, I simply peel a button off, place it on the tear and I'm back in business.

Tools you'll need:

• Scrap sheet of plastic (the flat side of a used plastic container would work fine)
• Sharp knife (the pointier the better... I use a #11 scalpel or Xacto blade)
• Circle Template (actually, any circular object can be used to scribe your buttons... Careful with that knife!)

btw... I had to upload a non-image file, so the file I chose is a wire clip I made to fit the replacement heater harness that is .030" larger in diameter than the original that came with the printer. It snaps over the original harness clips on the printer base and the bottom of the build plate and holds the new harness just fine.

Maybe someday, I'll figure out how Thingiverse works, but for now, that's my workaround... :-)
