We are working on a Map to STL converter for a while now and this is one of the first models created during beta which was also printed.

The above print was made on a self-built work-in-progress Reprap Prusa Mendel, so please don't mind the low quality.
The model shows the terrain around 47.7303361, 12.881588.

I will put a website with a map based converter creating such STLs online within the next few days. Just some last testing necessary...

I sliced with Slic3r and it worked out quite well. Still my print has two little caves were none should be and a lot of small "bumps" are printed on top of ridges and peaks.

I am sure the print would look much more spectacular with exaggerated heights.
