Summary
Simple Balancing Bird
The balancing bird is an interesting toy that allows kids to play with gravity and the center of mass. However, it is not easy to print a bird that actually works because of the variability of 3D filaments and the printing parameters. Previously, I resorted to some bolts (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2027942). The bird works but does not look pretty. In an effort to highlight the idea while saving filament, I decided to focus on the outline of the bird. The current model almost works at a density of 20%.
When it fails to balance itself, one can try a few add-on clips, which makes the model even more interesting. How could such a tiny clip make a big difference? Alternatively, paper clips can be used.
