Summary
This is a very simple script to extrude an image and/or text, for use in other models.
Just enter the text you want, choose font, and generate the STL.
Or simply place your SVG image in the folder, enter the name, and generate the STL.
You would use this to generate an STL file, which can then be added to other models, using software such as Meshmixer, or for adding/positioning directly on the model inside your slicer, such as Cura.
You can generate your STL directly in Thingiverse using the customiser tool.
But it is just as easy to use the open source program called OpenScad, which can be found here:
https://openscad.org/
Open this script in OpenScad, then select the parameters (top right of screen) to make it look just like you want, then click on the render and stl buttons to generate (these are icons are found in bottom left corner of the preview window).
For some complex SVG files, and sometimes with text, Cura may complain that the STL is not watertight. This can be ignored, but if you want to remove the holes, I recommend using the Microsoft 3D Builder app (freely available on the MS Windows Store). I have found this to be the best at cleaning up STL files.
