This base is larger than the original, making the ears much more stable.  It also makes them much more comfortable because there aren't any pointy edges touching your head.

When you install them in your hat, make sure the side with the beveled edges will be facing towards your head.

You may have to experiment with the size.  To get a secure fit, I had to design the base with a hole that's quite a bit smaller than the one in the original version.
