I got a steel beg board to hand some tools in my room and noticed that the metal could damage the paint behind the board so I made this to separate the board from the wall just a couple of millimeters. This item is meant to go over the corners of the peg board. This is the peg board that I got (not an affiliate link). 

The gap for the board to slide into is 2mm wide. So this leaves a little bit of play between the item and the peg board. When you fasten the peg board down they should no longer move.
