This design is based on the Floret Pentagonal Tiling (also known as the 6-fold pentille tiling), arranged to leave small gaps between each “petal” for natural movement and drape.

The pattern forms a beautiful geometric texture that feels both structured and soft -- perfect for exploring the boundaries between 3D printing and textiles.

 

Printing Instructions

Print the first few layers (about 1 mm) on your build plate.

Pause the print.

Carefully attach a thin fabric, such as tulle, gauze, or mesh,  to the build plate using binder clips or painter’s tape.

Resume printing. The printer will fuse the top and bottom parts of the pattern through the fabric, anchoring the print securely to the textile.

You’ll end up with a lightweight, flexible sheet that feels like printed lace, part textile, part 3D print.
