I was in the market for a metal palette when I realized I already had Mr Hobbys Paint Trays lying around and a 3D printer.

3 sizes, I recommend using a cut version of the 1 x 1 for figuring out your tolerances.

Complement the tray with  5 x 2mm magnets for some extra grip.
