I found it prints better right side up. Yes I hate it too when people upload files that I end up having to rotate in Cura. Get over it.
Post-Printing
The Harbor Freight #93928 part storage case.
These cases are a great value and have several great features.
- They have a clear top so you can see all your parts without opening the lid.
- The boxes are removable so you can pull one out and use it somewhere else.
- Little nubs on the bottom of the boxes keep them from moving around inside the case.
- You can move the different size boxes into any configuration you desire.
The boxes come in every size, except for the one you need...
Yes the big downside is they have three different size boxes.
- Big (105mm x 75mm),
- Medium (77mm x 52mm)
- Small (52mm x 38mm)
You can't buy any extra boxes so you end up with a few parts in a big box which is a waste of space.
And I'm sure you probably already know that since you just probably searched Thingiverse and found it is littered with several better designs than what I could come up with. All shapes and sizes. And since I can't get the remix section of this editor to work, I'll list a link to each one that I have found so far. Stop wasting you time with my bad design and go check out these way better designs.

And this one isn't for the case but its pretty cool and I got some inspiration from it as well.
So why design another one?
So I looked over all those boxes and even printed a few. But each of those designs makes a box that replaces one of the yellow boxes that comes in the case. So that really got me wondering, what do people do with the yellow boxes they take out? I'm too cheap and a borderline hoarder so I can't throw any of them away. I really don't want a bunch of yellow boxes just sitting around because I will have an overpowering urge to fill them with something. That's part of the problem I'm trying to solve, not have little boxes sitting in drawers.
The other problem is which way do you print those designs? If you print right side up, you have a whole lot of support material to deal with since each box has little nubs that raise it about 3mm off the bed. On the other hand, if you print them upside down, your printer has to be really great at overhangs or the bottom of the box will be all messed up.
So for those not really valid reasons I decided I wanted to design a box that would fit inside the yellow boxes that come with the case. You can use the strength of the yellow box and just insert a box with super thin walls, is lightweight, and fast to print. But I couldn't figure out all that so you get to see this instead.

This file is a box with 8 compartments and is same height as the box it fits in. It doesn't have a bottom, I just increased the Brim size setting in Cura until the bottom of the box was covered. This thin layer is enough to keep things inside and keeps the box bottom from becoming elephant feet. To compensate for forgetting to make a bottom, I made the side walls super thick which make up for it and do nothing for the design.

I love long file names so I can be sure and not be able to read them on my Ender 3's tiny LCD screen. This file is half the height of the yellow boxes. The idea is to print 2 of them. So you get 16 compartments in one Big yellow box. They are designed to stack so the top one fits snugly into the compartments of the one below. This makes sure little parts like M2 washers can't escape the compartment as you swing the case wildly around in anger at your latest project not going as planned.
But wait there is more! I put little cut lines so you can take a box cutter like in my picture above, and cut the box in half. Then you can have 8 compartments inside the medium size box. But if you cut into quarters, you can have 4 compartments inside the small size box. But after that just put the knife down and walk away, don't get carried away.
And lastly the bottom of the compartments have slight curves to make it easier to slide out that last tiny washer.
You can make it better!
So are the walls way too thick? Yes, Is it really going to take 4 hours to print? Absolutely! Will I ever get around to redesigning this properly in Fusion 360? Probably not. Is it a great design NO, but its mine. And yet its still better designed than this crappy website.
But please take it and make it what ever you want. But I tell you this, you will sleep safely at night knowing your tiny little nuts are well protected in this grossly oversized part box. I do hope to make more files that fit like Tetris pieces but I'm really tired of choosing which 10 files I want editable on Fusion 360.
Oh and you can see from my pictures above, the bid yellow box can fit 6 Tic Tac boxes or 2 Altoids tins. So why not skip 3d printing all together and become reigning champion of fresh breath to acquire the perfect little parts boxes.
