Summary
A generic ESP8266 + a BME680 environmental sensor gives you indoor temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, and detection of a natural gas or carbon monoxide leak all for under $25!
This enclosure holds a Wemos D1 Mini with a battery shield, a 18650 LiPo battery, and a BME680 environmental sensor breakout board (separated for temperature / humidity accuracy).
Connect Wemos D1 Mini to BME680 breakout board as follows:
- 3.3V -> VCC
- GND -> GND
- D2 -> SDA
- D1 -> SCL
If using the (excellent) Sonoff-Tasmota firmware from Theo Arends, configure the module according to this page:
https://github.com/arendst/Sonoff-Tasmota/wiki/Wemos-D1-Mini-and-BME680-Temperature,-Humidity,-Pressure-and-Gas-Sensor
EDIT: Tightened lid mounts a bit to make it fit better and improved mounting studs for Wemos Mini D1
EDIT2: Added "rounded" version of box and lid if you don't like sharp corners. Looks particularly good in Hatchbox Wood when sanded and stained. ;)
