Fun stylized skull Halloween decoration. Easy print. Prints on supports, but the supports should be easy to remove. The supports are confined to the underside of the model to minimize visible scarring.
I recommend using a deburring tool to clean up the under side of the cheek bone. You can also use a hobby knife to clean up small defects on the under side of the print.
The painted model was done in about 5 minutes with a simple wash. I lightly sanded it first, especially the top of the head. Otherwise the wash will accentuate the layer lines. Then used a soft brush with heavily diluted paint over the entire model. I then wiped it clean with a paper towel before it dried. This leaves most of the paint in the grooves and crevasses, accentuating them. It's a cool effect that can be done pretty quickly.
Default scale is about the size of a baseball. I wanted to keep it pretty small as a fun, easy to print decoration. It should be pretty scalable, though. Feel free to play around with it.
Print Settings
- Auto Tree Supports
- 3 Walls, 4 Bottom Layers
- Lightning Infill
- 0.4mm Top Z Distance - to make supports easier to remove
- I limited Outer Wall Speed to 60mm/s to provide a consistent sheen. This is most important with silk PLA, but doesn't dramatically slow down the print.
