This is a breakthrough design I created in order to incorporate a 3d printed spherical hinge inside of any model without the need for support material.  The concept is simple - the 'ball' portion of the ball/socket design features a cone shape on the bottom, tapering down to a very small attachment point.  This must be aligned with the print bed, so that the weakest point of this design is inline with the layers.  Designing it this way allows the internal spherical hinge to be fully printed, then broken afterward extremely easily, leaving the joint flexible.  After shearing the weak point, this will allow full rotation and moderate articulation.
