Filament Runout Sensor V2
This design is a simple filament runout sensor for 3D printers.
It was made to be mounted on a custom 8 mm chipboard enclosure.
Assembly
- Drill a 15 mm hole in the printer enclosure.
- Insert a PC4-M6 connector into the FilamentRunoutV2Hole.stl part.
- Place this part into the hole from the inside of the enclosure.
- Screw the connector into the M6 thread at the bottom of the FilamentRunoutV2.stl (main body) to secure the sensor to the enclosure.
- Insert a micro switch (KW10 type) into the slot inside the main body.
- Close it with the FilamentRunoutCover.stl part to protect the switch.
Now the sensor is firmly mounted to the enclosure.
Wiring
- Connect the COM and NO/NC terminals of the micro switch to your printer’s filament runout input.
- Configure your firmware settings according to the chosen switch mode (NO or NC).
