Purpose

This miniature scale (platform size 10×10 cm) comes with a clear plastic cover that also dubs as a hopper for weighing loose materials. The cover will protect the scale if it has a dedicated place on your tabletop and you can just drop the cover over it and take it off. But what if you need to put away your scale?

The main part of this model is a case bottom that fits the pre-existing clear cover, and you can use it to enclose the scale fully for stowing. While at it, I have also put together a model for the cover itself, but I have not tested that. I imagine it will come useful when I eventually crack the original one. Who knows, we may have a proper transparent printing technology available by then.

Printing

I did my favourite material combo and printed the flat (bottom 1 m) in PETG and the rest in TPU. That way, the pad is less flexible but the flexible TPU walls hug the top case nicely and securely. A standard 0.4-mm nozzle and 0.2-mm layers are great.
