These Tiles were created as part of an assignment in a course on special education and digital technology.
The idea for the teaching tool itself isn't new, several visual and conceptual variants can be found (most famously probably as part of the Montessori-Materials). The shapes as well as colours as shown in the picture were chosen based on associations being used by the teachers I work with.
Four of the tiles represent specific types of words while the ring is used as a stand-in for any of the remaining types. The shape with the hexagonal cutout is indended to be used for syllables which can be detached from the main morpheme of a verb (which in German happens in certain grammatical contexts).
If printed with 0.2mm layer hight, a colour change on layer 13 (2.60mm) allows for the recessed letters and syllable field to be more legible.
