I bought a tripod to use with my SONY RX100m7 and the included mount plate was too large to be convenient with how small the camera is itself. 
I kept the length and location of the screw hole and reduced the width and height of the original plate that came with the tripod. Since the width decreased I made a piece to go into the receiving side of the mount to match new dimensions. Work with original 1/4" screw and every similar tested mount (auleda, cambofoto).

Added a couple layers of electrical tape on the side of the plate that touches the camera for added grip. It also helped with the orientation of the screw in attached position.
I used thin double-sided tape to attach the smaller piece onto the mount, it's been holding well so far. 
Included the .f3d design file in case anyone wants to edit the model.
