Summary
Make a shelf from four 0.5in diameter dowels. Dowels press-fit into brackets; bracket tabs are sized for 3m adhesive mounting tabs. No supports necessary.
Shelf is five inches deep.
Update: Added smaller brackets to make a 2.5in deep shelf with two dowels
