I had one of these old NAS's lying around as the motherboard went quite a few years ago. I stumbled upon people reviving the case by adding a low powered cpu/motherboard into it.
This is to be used in place of the front panel PCB. I had one of those PC power/reset switch cables. I opened up an old mouse and found a ~8mm long momentary tact switch and replaced the power switch on the cable. I just used hot glue to attach the switch and leds to this. I have holes for all of the screws and leds. I only used two of the led holes for now. I also didn't add the second button, or dealt with the empty USB hole. Maybe in the future I'll find parts that will work for that.
Using this allows me to get a power switch and power/hdd LEDs working without monkeying with the stock cable harness from the front panel. (I could never get the power led to work anyway)
