Establish a neat physical consumables color card library, which consists of snap-type mini material trays and stackable stands.
All components are designed for rapid printing, with minimal material consumption and no need for support structures. AMS is not required.
Why did you choose this model?
- The consumption of consumables is extremely low
- High printing speed
- No support is needed
- No AMS required
- Modular and expandable: as your collection grows, you can stack more shelves
- You can choose the SKÅDIS stand from IKEA
The working principle of the mini ingredient tray
You can create a color swatch in two ways:
- Real consumables color card: Wrap a small piece of consumables on the mini material tray and fix it using the built-in holes
- Simulated consumables insert
The two halves of the material tray can be slightly rotated to increase the tension. If you want to fix it permanently, there is a small opening where you can drip a small drop of glue.
Assemble
Assemble a stand:
- Glue the two support rods into the support side panels
- Ensure that the rod is completely in place before bonding.
- After being bonded, the bracket becomes sturdy and can be stacked or installed.
Printing board (3MF)
Plate 01 — Mini serving plate x6
6 mini serving plates, as the starting set.
Board 02 — Simulated Consumables
The printed "simulation consumables" insert, which is used to simulate color cards without the need for winding.
Plate 03 — 6-tray support stand
The main support component of a 6-cavity mold module.
Plate 04 — Connecting Pieces & End Caps
Top end caps, bottom end caps, and connectors used to connect/stack multiple brackets.
Board 05 — IKEA SKÅDIS shelf
Components used to install the system on the IKEA SKÅDIS board.
STL package (ZIP) + mirror components
It includes a ZIP file, which contains separate STL files of all components.
Some components are only available in a single left/right version, in order to keep the file list concise.
To obtain the opposite component: copy the model and use the "Mirror" function in the slicing software.
Example: filament-swatch-mini-spool-rack-side.stl → Print x2: 1 normal + 1 mirror image
Printing suggestions
- Support: No support is needed
- Floor height: 0.20 mm
- Materials: PLA is recommended (PETG is also acceptable, but it's a bit more flexible)
- Wall thickness: 2
- Fill: 15%
Feedback & Support
I'd be happy to improve this design - feel free to share your suggestions and ideas.
If you like it and find it useful, a like or a little support is always greatly appreciated and very helpful. 🙂
