I have remixed the original project by https://www.printables.com/@muppetjones_239002 project to account for some other split keyboards that need a bit more stability. So I extended the plates to cover the speaker and a small portion of the trackpad.
I also added some small bolts that will fit into the SplitKB tenting puck. one side is a simple post to fit into one of the hex holes the the other half is a 1/4" -20 bolt made to be able to print on the side. it only needs enough threading to hold it into place ad the rubber feet should hold it into place.
You can also see that putting rubber feet on the surface can also help stabilize depending on the shape of your keyboard. This is optional.
The white stickers on the bottom are NFC stickers that let me use my phones automation features to toggle phone tethering and other tricks.
If you have any improvements please let me know.
Original Description
In most MacBook Pro models, the keyboard is part of the cooling system. Keyboard covers can block the airflow and (potentially) cause the laptop to overheat. This remix improves the air flow by:
- Raising the height of the legs by 1mm
- Removing large portions of the grid
- Adding hexagons to the plate to improve airflow
The remaining grid is more than enough to keep the plate in place.
The four lines indicate the orientation -- they should be in the bottom corners.
Tested on:
- 2023 15" MacBook Pro M3
- 2015 15" MacBook Pro
- 2021 14" MacBook Pro
(This was printed at my local library, so I don't have any information about the print settings, and I have not fine-tuned the settings.)
