If you have nice rims on your car, you most likely have wheel locks to prevent theft. Once you have installed the lock-lugs, you are left with a wheel lock key. Wheel lock keys need to be with you when you are driving your car incase you get a flat, but it is an inconvenience to carry the key like other keys you carry due to size and weight. So, most people hide their lock in their car. Their hiding spots are not usually inspired, such as the glove box or around the spare tire.

This in turn causes the security of the wheel lock to be a security by obscurity. Someone breaking into your car could typically find the key quickly and this wheel lock measure is reduced to someone breaking into your car and successfully locating your key.

Personally, I have TE37s which are very expensive and desirable. Initially I was terrified of them being stolen. I legit carried my wheel lock key in my pocket for the first year.

This wheel lock security box enables you to place the wheel lock into a box that can be secured by a padlock and steel cable tether. This enables you to carry just the padlock key and provide a mechanism to slow thefts even further.

Admittedly this box could be destroyed with a blow torch or sledge hammer. A tether makes it harder to use these destruction methods. I'm not sure how long it would take to destructively open this box, but it wont be easy or straight forward.

Design

This is a single body designed to be printed all at once. The hinge is print in place making it impossible to separate with nondestructive means.

Each side is jointed with a tongue and groove to prevent insertion of a pry bar.

Printing

Of course using a strong filament is recommended such as PETG.

Do not use supports. Supports may lock up the hinge making it hard to separate.

Post Processing

There are two supports on the hinge that will need to be cut off after the print. They are little triangles on the outsides of the hinge.

To separate the two halves initially if stuck together, place a chisel or flat head at the top joint and tap with a hammer until it separates fully.

If you require a larger size for a different brand wheel lock, please leave a comment with your dimensions. This design can only be scaled uniformly due to the hinge. In order to fit a larger wheel lock key, it will need to be split and extended.
