Summary
I must start by saying that this is a work in progress. I have not completed this project as of yet, but will in the future. Feel free to use these things to create your own weather station. This is also just one piece of an entire weather station I am building. The full station has sensors for wind speed, wind direction, 8 inch rain gauge, temperature and humidity. This documentation may be heavily modified in the future.
This model is to build the radiation shield which houses the temperature and humidity sensor in the top shield area and the main controller for the weather station in the base.The radiation_shield.scad file can be modified for all pieces of this build.

There should be no need for supports except for the base as it has the pipe mount out the side. The top layer, middle layer, sensor mount and base parts should be printed top side down. I printed this using eSun white PETG filament. I had read that the eSun filament had some UV resistant chemicals in the plastic which I figured would help with the longevity of the sensors as it will be out in the sun and other elements.
How I Designed This
I designed this radiation shield from looking at designs of other radiation shields on thingiverse and on the web. I did my own customization from the pictures and information that I found. Feel free to modify any of the parts on this build. The radiation_shield.scad file was used to create all of the .stl files found in this build.
This is considered the main part of the weather station as it houses the main controller for the station. The radiation shield portion of this build houses a DHT22 temperature and humidity sensor, but the design of the sensor mount can be easily modified to hold other types of sensors such as I2C temp and humidity, barometric pressure or otherweather related sensors. The station is based on the MySensors framework found at mysensors.org. Most of my work on this has been posted to the MySensors form under this forum thread. The main controller that I am building is built on a MySensors Easy Newbie PCB created by @sundberg84 from the MySensors forum. Many thanks to @sundberg84 for his work on that great board. The base of the radiation shield has standoffs designed to mount the PCB on the under side and is protected from the weather. In the event water should by chance get inside, the bottom cover is designed with a slight taper towards the center where there is a drain hole to prevent any water buildup.
The radiation shield is easily customized. My shield consists of a top layer piece plus 6 middle layer pieces. The entire shield is put together with lengths of 1/4 x 20 threaded rods cut to the length needed to fit through the layer pieces, the sensor mount layer, and the top thickness of the base. The threaded rods are screwed into the 3 recessed holes in the radiation shield top cover. All of the rest of the pieces should then stack together and then get locked in place with 1/4 x 20 nuts inside the base. It would probably be wise to use either stainless steel or galvanized threaded rod to help keep it from rusting.
The DHT22 sensor mount is the tall piece with the cylindrical base. The sensor mount plate has a hole in the side. This hole should be tapped and used to hold a screw used to lock the sensor in place. If you decide to modify the center DHT22 mount piece to use other sensors, you should print as many radiation shield middle layer pieces as are needed to cover your sensors leaving an adequate gap at the top.
I will document things here as this build gets further along.
At this point I am not going to go into much detail on all of the different parts, but as I get into finishing the weather station build I will update information in here as I get things more to a completed stage.
