Abstract
The main function of this physical prototyping is to create a model that allows for a better understanding of the project's scale, rather than the final model, which is a more detailed process and involves different proportions.
Making models of any small properties
When using this large scale, we need to ignore the architectural details and focus on the overall volume.
This process
At first, we tried to export the .OBJ files directly from AutoCad itself, but the 3D planes were deformed, which hindered high-quality modeling.
Then, we chose to redesign it, starting with the floor plan, and used AutoDesk's ThinkerCad for modeling. This is a special 3D CAD software that uses the concept of adding and subtracting blocks and objects.
The entire process, from obtaining the floor plans of the two floors to generating the printable model, took about eight hours of work in ThinkerCad and other 3D-dedicated applications.
The final 3D printing process was carried out at a scale of 1:500 and completed in four steps, taking approximately 40 hours of printing time.
The final product is very suitable for its application scenarios. Obviously, it can be designed in detail and printed in larger sizes to create very realistic models. It's just a matter of design and printing time.
