Introduction
Pālā (Pāḷi: guardian, keeper) is a 3D-printed phone holder designed for the Hadley (metric) telescope. It mounts directly onto the Hadley’s dual dovetail holder and securely holds a mobile phone for use with AstroHopper (links to my fork of the original) and other manual star-hopping or telescope alignment apps.
I could not find an existing phone mount that fit the Hadley metric dovetail properly, so this model was designed from scratch to provide a rigid, vibration-free mounting solution. Pālā keeps the phone aligned with the telescope, allowing smooth sky navigation by physically moving the telescope rather than relying on electronics or motors.
The design uses standard metric hardware, much of which is commonly left over from a Hadley metric build. Screenshots of the assembled model and recommended print orientations are included.
