For those of you who have run out of more places to add lights to your virtual pinball cabinet, let me introduce something you don't need: Backbox corner matrixes!
I designed these to address a few particular things I noticed about my vpin setup. These mounts include areas for 3 new sets of lights:
5x5 RGB matrix – I'm running these as a combo of “PF Strobe MX”, “PF Beacon MX”, “PF Back Flashers MX HD” but once more tables start supporting “PF Left/Right MX HD” I'll likely switch to that. Main idea is that while the large matrix in the back may typically play flashers and effects, these additional left/right smaller matrixes give an opportunity for other HD or MX effects that you otherwise don't want on your large back matrix.
2x2 RGB matrix – Similar story here. I ended up configuring mine as a combo of “Launch MX” and “Fire MX”. This adds a visual indicator that a launch or fire action is ready, which can sometimes be tricky to see given how those buttons are typically not in the view when looking at the PF or backbox.
6 LED Side Strobe – This either enhances the strobe effect without blinding the player, or adds some extra effects for spectators awaiting their turn.
