Summary
I play Walkabout Mini Golf and I was having trouble getting a consistent swing; the controller does not have the pendulum swing of a golf club. All the club accessories I can find attach to the controller handle, which don't allow access to the buttons, and the length & weight can't be adjusted. I decided to create an attachment that keeps the controller in my hand and allows adjusting the club length and weight.
Do NOT use this for a full golf swing. It was not designed for that.
This is a two-part print. The Controller Mount clips to either the right or left controller. The Club Handle has a standard broom thread (ACME 3/4 5tpi) that allows screwing in whatever length handle you desire. Weights can be added to the end of the handle if needed. I have created an adapter to add weights to similar devices before, make a request and I add the STL to this project. I must have the diameter of your club. You could also adapt a real putter.
The two parts must be glued together before using. I started to index the parts so they would always align the same but then I realized this may be different for some people. To assemble:
- Screw a broom handle into the handle part. You should cut to approximately the correct length at this time.
- Clip the mount part into your Oculus controller. the curve of the part must match the curve of the controller.
- Hold everything together in your normal putting grip, turning the broom so it points to the ground.
- Mark on the handle part where the controller part tab aligns. (see image above)
- Take everything apart and put tape on the handle part to hold together while gluing.
- Using epoxy, CA, or your glue of choice apply to one part, squeeze together and tape so it won't come apart.
- Let it dry,
- Screw the broom handle and clip to the controller.
