This Lamp (or more so lampshade) is composed of 3 different simple components that slide together with ease. The goal of this design was to create a static object that feels as if it has motion to it. The angle of the fins was chosen specifically so that the lightbulb in the middle cannot be seen from the outside, causing the user to start to looking around the lamp for the light source, revealing the sense of motion. The 20 fins surrounding the bulb create subtle yet beautiful shadows around the room while the glow of the lamp provides a warm light in its area. The lamp was designed to be able to fit onto an affordable lamp base that can be purchased from amazon (see below). I have included an Image of the full scale lamp made from CNC cut pieces of wood as well as an image of it 3D printed.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If the dimensions of the full scale lamp components are too large for your printer bay and need to be scaled down, there is one dimension that is must remain the same. On the bottom disc that slides over the lamp base, there is an inside diameter of 3.7", this must remain the same if for the 3D printed components to slip onto the lamp base successfully.
If downloaded and printed, please send me images of the finished project on Instagram: @jake_demott45
I would love to see other people using the lamp that I designed other than myself!
Enjoy,
