This shelf started as a fun experiment in generative design—letting the shape form based on where strength is needed instead of designing a traditional boxy shelf. That process gives it a lightweight, organic look while still being sturdy enough for everyday use.

It was designed to be easy to 3D print on most FDM printers. No supports are required, and it prints cleanly with standard settings. PLA works great for indoor use, while PETG or ASA are good choices if you want extra durability or heat resistance.

The open structure helps reduce material use and print time while still holding items like small plants, books, or decor. It works as a functional shelf, but it’s also a cool way to show off generative design and 3D printing in a practical object.
