At the same time, an extended version of the camera arm was launched, and the support structure was slightly thickened to adapt to the parameter settings of more slicing software - "X_camera_arm-long.stl".

An additional extendable rod and an extra movable joint have been added.
After installing the extension rod on the original camera arm, the overall length is basically the same as that of the longer version of the camera arm.

As many of you know, OctoPrint is an excellent open-source control software, and it becomes even more powerful when used with the OctoLapse plugin.
However, in practical applications, I found that ensuring the camera is securely installed without interfering with the printing process is much more challenging than I imagined. It was based on this consideration that I designed this solution.
One of the highlights of this design is that the camera can move synchronously along the Z axis—this is particularly important for 3D printers with a high Z axis height.
If a fixed camera installation solution is used, the camera will not be able to track the dynamic changes of the latest print layer in real time, and it is only suitable for cases with a very small number of print layers.
The entire device consists of two parts: one part is used to replace the mounting bracket of the X-axis motor and the limit switch, and the other part is the camera arm itself.
Both of these parts are easy to print and can be successfully molded without the need for added support.
There are two mounting holes at the end of the camera arm, which are 3 mm and 6 mm respectively, and are compatible with the mounting needs of most cameras on the market. If you need more mounting points, you can drill and enlarge the holes as needed.
You can choose to install the camera above or below the camera arm - personally, I prefer to place the camera at a lower position, as this results in better print quality.
Please refer to the attached diagram to learn how to properly support and fix the printouts to achieve the best printing results.
This design is specifically designed for the CR-6 SE/MAX series printers, but the Ender 3 series printers also use the same limit switch cover plate, so this solution can also be perfectly adapted to the Ender 3.
