Summary

I have taken measurements and recreated this is FreeCAD, the ring now sits flush with the rod end and when gluing the cap you can make sure it lines up with that too.

The file has a spreadsheet that controls all aspects of the model, you can make it longer, alter the pitch, change the width of the ring, whatever your heart desires.
