This brushless electric motor is truly unique, boasting numerous advantages such as low rolling resistance, high speed, and excellent efficiency. It is a fully functional brushless DC motor, and its performance will vary depending on the materials used.
To build this motor, you only need to prepare:
- 12 pieces of NdFeB permanent magnets
- Enamelled copper wire of any diameter——The recommended wire diameter is0.1 mm to 0.4 mm
- 2 bearingsThe specific model depends on the version of the motor:
- Outside diameter: 8 mm; Inside diameter: 4 mm
- Outer diameter: 6 mm; inner diameter: 3 mm
Among them, the smaller inner diameter can also be used as the installation reference diameter of the motor.
⚠Important notice:The operating performance and thermal efficiency of the motor highly depend on the diameter of the wires and the number of turns in each coil! I chose to use0.4 mm enamelled copper wireand wind it around each of the nine armatures once14 turnsAlthough the motor can run, it stops working after operating for about10 secondsAfter that, it will automatically shut down due to overheating. If you want to further improve efficiency, you can do it byReduce the diameter of the wireAnd appropriately extend the length of the wires to increase the resistance of the motor.
There's a note attached to the pictureWinding diagramThere are two feasible winding methods for this motor, and there are slight differences in efficiency between the two.
Every brushless motor needs to be equipped with the following components:
- Electronic Speed Controller——to ensure that the motor runs normally
- Power supply
- PWM signal source——Used to drive the electronic speed regulator to precisely regulate the motor speed; a simple servo tester can meet the requirements.
