Project Overview
A sharply edged speaker enclosure designed specifically for a 3-inch speaker unit.
The shell adopts a split printing design, which is divided into two parts: the upper/front side and the lower/back side. After the speakers and terminals are installed inside, it is sealed and bonded with epoxy resin.
In order to effectively suppress the standing wave effect caused by sound repeatedly reflecting off the flat rear wall, the speaker is specially equipped with multiple internally-mounted panels arranged at an angle. Although some people think this design is unnecessary
I chose PLA material for printing, but ABS and PETG are also suitable, and the effect is equally excellent.
The upper/front part was printed using Hatchbox wood-grain PLA, while the lower/back part was printed using eSun warm-white PLA. Both parts were printed with a layer thickness of 0.3mm, because I particularly love the unique texture effect of the wood-grain filament, which shows a rough and uneven texture with a strong sense of layering during printing, which perfectly matches the overall style of this project.
