Lighthouse to be used as a pen holder. Comes in three parts, a base, a top and a drop-in part, which is different for the pen holder or the lantern. You also need to a fourth part, the “glass” at the top. This is a translucent tube of 80mm diameter and 0.1mm wall thickness. Where do you get this tube? By cutting up a standard size German waterbottle (PET 0.7 l Normbrunnenflasche)! Make sure it fits with your printer's accuracy by printing the top part first (using less material) and trying it out.
Colour suggestions (also see the .3mf-file):
- Bottom in sand / rock color (you got some marble filament?), alternatively in black.
- Print floors in red - white - red - white -red.
- Print the “bulges” between the floors in black.
- Print the top part (from the beginning of the outward protrusion) in black again.
Assembly:
- Cut the tube to length, and superglue into the top part.
- Insert the drop-in part, depending on your use case.
- Glue the tube to the bottom part - or just slot it in, so you can change the drop-ion part later.
You can lengthen or shorten the drop-in part for the pen holder depending on how long your pens are and how tall you make the “glass” part at the top. Just change the Z-height in the slicer. You can print this part in vase mode to save time and materials - the side walls are supported by the walls of the base anyway.
If you want to use the model as a lantern add a battery operated LED tea light or artificial candle. The hollow side of the lanter drop-in part is supposed to face down, the ring registering/centering the drop-in part inside the lighthouse.
DO NOT SUPERGLUE THE TOP PART UNTIL YOU'VE INSTALLED THE BASE AS IT WON'T FIT AFTERWARDS!
DO NOT USE 3D-PRINTED PARTS WITH ACTUAL CANDLES / OPEN FLAMES! (Plastic burns, dontchaknow?)
