Hi! I'm RandoTechNerd and I have been searching the internet for a 3D printable hoop for my cat Lulu (aka Lulu Bunz aka Lucifer) to jump through. Credit where credit is due: I found a model for a hula hoop: https://www.printables.com/model/691897-full-size-hula-hoop by B&BTech but it wasn't exactly what I was looking for as I wanted a customizable (any amount of segments - so I or YOU can print it on any size printer) So when the lil dumb dumb *lovingly* figures out the 200mm radius hoop we can go down to smaller hoops. (Slightly smaller 4 segment single bed in this video:)

Customizable Circular Hoop with Segmented Option (OpenSCAD)
This OpenSCAD script generates a circular hoop that can be customized to your exact needs! Whether you need a solid hoop or one that can be printed in segments and assembled, this model has you covered. The segmented version features integrated curved connectors that follow the hoop's arc for a clean and strong connection.
**Features:**
* **Fully Parametric:** Control all aspects of the hoop using the OpenSCAD Customizer.
* **Solid or Segmented:** Choose to generate a single solid hoop or divide it into multiple segments for easier printing or for creating larger hoops than your print bed might normally allow.
* **Curved Connectors:** When segmented, each piece includes a curved pin on one end and a corresponding curved hole on the other. These connectors are designed to follow the hoop's circumference for a seamless fit.
* **Adjustable Hoop Dimensions:**
* hoop_major_radius: Defines the overall diameter of the hoop (from the center of the hoop to the center of the tube).
* tube_minor_radius: Sets the thickness (radius) of the hoop's tube material.
* **Adjustable Connector Parameters (for segmented hoop):**
* connector_arc_angle: Controls the length of the curved pin and hole along the hoop's circumference (in degrees).
* connector_pin_width: Sets the width (diameter) of the connector pin.
* connector_clearance: Allows you to fine-tune the tolerance (gap) between the pin and the hole for a perfect fit, accounting for your printer's specific calibration.
* **Smoothness Control:**
* smoothness_factor: Adjusts the resolution of the curves for a smoother finish (higher values) or faster rendering (lower values).
* **Single Segment Preview:**
* Option to display only a single segment if you've chosen the segmented version, making it easy to inspect the connector design before printing all parts.
* **Units:** All length dimensions are in millimeters (mm).
**How to Use:**
1. Download the .scad file.
2. Open it in [OpenSCAD](https://openscad.org/downloads.html) (it's free!).
3. If the "Customizer" panel isn't visible, go to Window > Customizer.
4. Adjust the parameters in the Customizer to your desired specifications:
* Set create_segmented_hoop to true if you want segments, or false for a solid hoop.
* If segmented, define num_segments.
* Modify hoop dimensions, connector details, and smoothness.
* Use display_single_segment_if_segmented to preview one piece.
5. Once you're happy with the preview (F5), render the model (F6).
6. Export the model as an STL file (File > Export > Export as STL...).
7. Slice and print!
**Printing Tips (for segmented version):**
* Ensure your printer is well-calibrated, especially for dimensional accuracy, to get the best fit with the connectors.
* You might need to experiment with the connector_clearance value. Start with the default (e.g., 0.25mm) and adjust based on your test prints. A smaller value gives a tighter fit, a larger value gives a looser fit.
* Print a single segment or just two connecting segments first to test the connector fit before printing all parts.
* Orient the segments on your print bed for optimal strength and minimal overhangs, especially around the connector areas.
the .3MF is pretty optimized for a small cat and press fit together when I tested.
