The 3DMakerPro Moose scanner claims to do a better job “seeing” into holes than previous scanners. I was curious to see how well 3D scanners could handle various holes. I created this model as a test to see what is possible and what is not.
The through holes are all “standard fit" + 0.2mm to compensate for 3d printing being imperfect. That makes the holes 3.5mm, 4.6mm, 5.7mm and 6.8mm.
Printed with a 0.4mm nozzle with 0.2mm layer height, 2 walls, 2 bottom layers, 5 top layers and 20% lightning infill.
Attached are the scans from the 3DMakerPro Seal and the Shining3D Einstar scanners and will happily add scans created with any other scanner for comparison!
3/27/2024: Added another Seal scan. I aligned 2 scans in JMStudio, export to CloudCompare where I performed SOR Noise filtering (# neighbours = 20, stddev = 1), fine registration and then exported back to JMStudio to mesh the object.
