A Binary acoustic diffuser plate.

Pre-Print Steps:

• The model isn't scaled up, so you'll need to scale to model to be 40cm x 40cm
• As you probably don't have a 40x40 bed printer you'll need to cut the model in 4 pieces too. (just use the cut tool in the slicer)

Printing Setup:

I've printed them with 3mm height, no infill.

( leaving cavities inside it's probably bad, as cavities usually resonate)

Post-Print:

They are meant to be glued to some kind of absorbing foam, what kind is your choice.

Acoustic performance info:

The hole sequence is calculated following MLS formula with python in blender, so the hole placement should be effective in scattering most part of the audio spectrum(i think?), obviosly being plastic this is never the case, but at least the placement should be right.

Unfortunately i wasn't able to really calculate the hole dimension and distance from border or one another, so as correct the hole sequence can be, it won't really correct 100%, i'm no audio engineer but i've tried to follow other design for that part.

The height of the model is something to keep in mind too, as very thin material are subject to lamb resonance, so if printed at 1mm like i did they probably resonate in some mid/high frequencies, but idk what the actual level or Hz could be.

And again, plastic ain't the best sounding material so it's a pretty cheap solution, but still, can help and and i didn't found anything else online, and they are cool :)

all of the problems could be calculated and accounted for, but i can't really spend 80 hours (if not more) learning how to do so.
