I still had a few ESPixelStick V2's around and wanted a case to make them a bit more rugged.
It's a simple box and lid design, with a little extra room for wiring and mounting options.
Please note that it is not waterproof and is intended for indoor use only.
Design
- The box has two versions, one with a hole for a DC barrel jack and the other without. If you're using the barrel jack version, be sure to insulate everything well. I put some kapton tape over the jack before installing the ESP01 module to be safe.
- To run wires through the box, you will have to either modify the model (step files provided) or just drill a hole in the case carefully. I drilled a hole for the pictured JST connector wires and used cable ties and hot glue for strain relief.
- The base has keyhole slots for mounting in various orientations; you could also use double-sided tape. The slots should fit common screw sizes, probably from 3-4.2mm threads, depending on screw head diameter.
- STEP files of the assembled model are included for easy modification, but if you are printing the original, I recommend using the STLs, as the objects are already separate and the lid has been flipped so the build plate side will face up when installed.
