I got tired of grabbing a chair or jumping to turn on/off the ceiling-mounted projector, so I made this pneumatic button to push it from the comfort of the floor. I took inspiration from a garbage disposal air switch, but designed with 3D-printing in mind.
Making an air-tight TPU diaphragm and bellows was harder than I thought. Print each TPU part one at a time with seven top and bottom layers, random seam positions, and staggered inner seams. For easiest printing, use the “No Override” remote button.
The regular remote button includes an internal pillar to allow you to directly press the button through the diaphragm, but this print needs paused right before the top layers bridge above that pillar. I recommend adding a hole punch left over or skim of glue stick to stop layer adhesion there and then resume the print.
The frame has crosshairs to make aligning with your device's button easier. I hot-glued mine in place. Insert the contactor disk and TPU remote button with tubing (see below). Check the pictures for help.
Run your tubing over to your user button location. There should be enough of a seal between the TPU parts and the tubing to test without gluing, but for best results I recommend gluing each tubing connection with a tiny drop of very thin superglue.
Use any type of flexible 5/32inch (4mm) OD tubing to connect the remote button and user button diaphragms.
