The "Güiro Percussion Frog Instrument" by kalunho3d and "Percussion Frog Minor Upgrade" by turkishsteve are great additions to anyone's percussion animal collection, especially for kids. I found however that the included strokers just weren't up to the task of printing successfully on my printer and being strong.

Using the same external dimensions of the strokers I set about making a more lateral-print friendly design. I settled on separating the cap and the stick, and implemented an insertion-fitting to bring it all together. I've printed dozens of these now and have yet to have a failure, and all sound nice when used with these percussion frogs. This stroker when assembled will fit perfectly into the holding holes for the original stroker stick.

Recommendations:

Print with 3 walls for additional strength

Print with brim or brim tabs for the prongs of the stick. There's minimal first-layer contact at the far end of the prongs and a brim keeps everything in check.

Trim away any flashing on the prongs of the stroker stick. Firmly insert the stroker stick into the cap until fully seated. In most cases fully seating will result in a nice "click".

If you find the stick isn't clicking, you can either attempt to trim away additional flashing, or simply add a couple drops of CA into the cap before reinsertion.
