Summary
just playing around with drawing hemispheres and using follow me in sketchup. never liked the square hooks much.
also, single hooks are better it seems...
modified and updated...
radius at base of hook for bit more strength.
changed base slightly.
scaled by 0.5, much more useful at half the size.
made a triplet despite saying singles may be better, i am stingy on screws ;)

works well. scale orig files down by half...
How I Designed This
when using "follow me", sections must end on a straight line to have the correct interface angle.
to draw a sphere or whatever, draw your circle or arc where you want the sphere, take a radial line off a small distance away, and draw another circle perpendicular to this line.
use follow me and you either get a funky mess or a neat sphere...
i think there was some fudging with "rotate" etc...
