These are cylinders that will fit inside each other. For each cylinder it's width is the same as it's height. The cylinder size ranges from 15 mm to 115 mm for a total of 42 cylinders. The lid size ranges from 17.5 mm to 117.5 mm, for a total of 42 lids. If you stacked all the cylinders, it will be 2677.5 mm tall.
You can nest all 42 cylinders inside each other if you don't put on the lids. The 42 lids also nest inside each other. If you put the lids on the cylinders, you must skip every other size for a nesting of 21 cylinders and lids. With the set of 42 cylinders and 42 lids, you can make 2 sets of nested cylinders/lids with a depth of 21 cylinders each. You can use this for the ultimate prank gift box.
The OpenSCAD source file is included, so if you want, you can make more than 42.
The smallest cylinder is 15 mm and then the next cylinder is 17.5 mm, etc. incrementing each cylinder size by 2.5 mm. The wall thickness is 0.8mm, so there is a gap between each cylinder of 0.45 mm. This gap seems to work well; allowing each cylinder to slide into the next larger cylinder. However, if your 3D printer makes a slight mistake, you may need to lightly sand the outside edge of a cylinder with a sanding block so that it will slide smoothly into the next larger cylinder. The lid size is tuned for a nice compression fit. To help keep track of all these cylinders and lids, the size is printed on the floor of each cylinder and lid. Each cylinder's matching lid is 2.5 mm larger than the cylinder size. For example the 15 mm cylinder uses a lid of size 17.5 mm.
Three *.stl files are provided. One is 42 cylinders. The second one is 42 lids. The third one is a set of 21 cylinders and 21 lids. If you use these *.stl files, use your slicer to split the model into separate objects.
Three corresponding *.3mf files are provided with the numerus objects spread across multiple build plates in increasing order of size. These 3 *.3mf files have slicer adjustments that are tuned to work well.
Printing Instructions
Layer height is 0.2 mm. Vertical shells Perimeter is set to 1. Infill is 100% fill density with a Concentric fill pattern. Elephant foot compensation is set to 0.3 mm.
