LightBurn for 3d Printers
Setting Tool Offset
Edit-Device Settings- Laser Pointer Offset See table below as the offset is reversed from what most people will be used to for adjusting firmware. Also note that most printers will not take move commands outside the size set in the firmware so your off set is also going to be the amount on the x and y that you lose. In my case the -/- mean I lost 47mm on my x axis and 37mm on my y axis. This means I lost over ⅓ of my print volume. If you use my front mount and have a 5w laser your offset is only 60 on the Y axis This is a roughly 7% usable surface area gain.

Library tab off laser section is basically your printing profiles and allows you- it is also where you can set your z offset (material thickness- z 0ffset) useful for BLtouch users.
How to use octoprint
Make a Frame Type layer (you can save it in your library for future projects) and always have it set as your first layer. I have mine set as a line type 1% power 1500mms 3 passes. This allows me to either print from the SD or from octoprint. Printing from the sd card at the printer also has better host actions and tune menu.
Note about Emergency stops
Tether printing whether via octoprint or PC has a delay in the stop command that is around 5 seconds. The stop time from SD printing is less than 2 seconds.
Watch YouTube for details on how to use the SVG components of Lightburn.
Always print preview to make sure you are getting what you think you are.
Modes are important
Line – just outlines the object
Fill – back and forth or cross hatch fill time think of infill.
Offset Fill - Think of it as how the first layer is printed for filling the object.
Do not use the pause option from octoprint/printer - the m600 command will want to reheat the extruder this on a long engraving could mean the filament in your extruder gets cooked which can cause clogs.
