Gem art (a.k.a. diamond painting) is a new hobby similar to paint-by-numbers that uses shiny faceted "gems" to create the artwork.  My girlfriend recently got into this hobby in a big way, but finding a frame that works well for the gem art canvases has been difficult. So I designed my own. The models here are sized for kits from the “PaintGem” company, but I include a parameterized Fusion360 model so you can resize them to fit your specific artwork.

These frames are simple, but have a bunch of small optimizations that should make them easy to print, easy to use, and good looking.  They have a built-in recessed hanger and can be hung on a nail or a hook.

I have included two frames that are sized to some of the more popular kits in the PaintGem lineup.  If you need another size, leave a comment and I'll upload a file for your kit.

Printing notes

• I recommend using a 0.2mm layer height; all the height offsets in the model are multiples of 0.2mm.
• If you have a 0.6mm nozzle, it works just as well as a 0.4mm for this model, and is a lot faster.
• Due to differences in printers, filaments, bed sizes, etc., you may find the parts don't fit together perfectly.  Try changing the size of the outer frame by 1% up or down as appropriate.
• I printed with 15% gyroid infill but you can almost certainly get away with less.
• The photos were printed using PLA, although almost any filament type should work.
• I have noticed that the canvases, as provided, may not always be cut square, so may not quite fit.  In this case, trim them yourself with scissors or a paper cutter.
