Summary
Interchangeable Downspout Ground Support
Protect your lawn and landscape with this versatile downspout ground support! The design uses an interchangeable support connector. This support system allows you to easily switch between two attachment options: a coil design for hard surfaces and two different ground spike designs for soft soil. All the attachments share a common thread dimension, making them interchangeable and adaptable to different ground conditions.
This downspout ground support prevents dead spots in your lawn where the downspout typically makes contact with the ground. Lifting the downspout slightly off the ground ensures proper water drainage and keeps your lawn looking healthy.
Features:
• Threaded Base: Allows easy interchangeability between the coil and pointed-end attachments.
• Hard Surface Coil: Ideal for use on driveways, patios, or any solid surface.
• Ground Spike: Perfect for soft soil, providing a secure anchor for your downspout. The Hollow end is perfect for inserting cloths hanger wired, but requires resin epoxy to set the spike in place.
• Lawn Protection: Prevents dead spots by keeping the downspout elevated off the ground.
Whether dealing with hard surfaces or soft soil, this downspout ground support will adapt to your needs and help maintain a healthy lawn. Download, print, and enjoy the flexibility of a customizable ground support system!

15% for the base. I used 4 wall construction Recommend Solid fill for the ground Spike
Notes:
Default Settings. Minimum of 15% for the carrier base. For the ground spike, I would recommend 100% fill. The holes are 5 MM if you want to use the built-in screw mounts.
Support use is critical. Default and tree supports can be used. I recommend using the default settings. Set it to 4+ wall thickness; the lower wall thickness causes the support stand to become fragile. I printed using a five-layer wall thickness and 25% fill. It uses more material but makes the base more durable.

How I Designed This
No Dead Grass Spots due to ground contact
How I designed this:
I designed this downspout ground support to address a common problem—preventing dead grass spots caused by downspouts resting directly on the ground. I wanted a single mount with interchangeable bases for different ground conditions, whether soft soil or hard surfaces. The design needed to raise the downspout runoff above the ground, allowing grass to receive the sunlight and air it needs.
Before this, I tried using a wire coat hanger with heat shrink tubing to protect against the elements, but the wire was too flexible and didn't hold up well. To tackle more compacted soil, I incorporated a small opening in one of the support spikes for epoxy and a wire insert made from a coat hanger. This provides extra stability when needed.
The ground supports can be easily swapped out based on your needs or if one happens to break. I haven't found a similar product in my area, so I created this design to fill that gap.
I hope you find this design as helpful as I do. If you'd like to support my work, please consider using the support link in the description. Thank you!
