Summary
the original spool holder coming with the Snapmaker is simple plastic support. After loading a new filament roll of 1kg, the printer was clogging! After investigation, it appears that the friction of the spool on the plastic hold was enough to clog. In fact the friction inside the bowden tube + friction of the spool with the spool holder are clogging.
I designed a new spool holder with ball bearings which significantly reduces the friction improving the filament feed.
For those who encountered the clogging issue i recommend to upgrade the printer as described below:
-
case extension with active fan regulation:
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5951524 - bowden tube with a natural curve shape: straight load at extruder input instead of the right angle which is the major root cause of the friction which clogs (extruder noise).
- increase the lever tensioner for a better filament feed,
- fan duct upgrade:

With all these modifcations theh printer is working perfectly at high speed. No clog, no sound, the filament feed is very fluid. Now i can fully appreciate this excellent J1.

the shape of all parts is designed to be printed WITHOUT any support.
the face of each part on the printer bed is given in the snapshot.
You will need :
2 x bearings 6908,

If you want more printer setting parameters than Luban slicer, you can install the snapmaker J1 plugin for cura. It works perfectly! i can add antiwarping tabs, etc.... the wifi is also working perfectly! this is very cumfortable to transfert files to the printer.
