Use this motor mount tool to make it easier to install motor mounting clips on your BEAPER Bot robot. BEAPER bot's motor mounting clips hold its two N20 gear motors in place. While the motor mounting clips can be installed manually, it's faster and easier using to use the motor mount tool to slide them into place – especially if a bunch of robots need to be assembled for a school, maker space, or robotics club.
The video, below, shows the motor mount tool in use.
Insert one N20 gear motor into the BEAPER Bot chassis – ensure you push the gear motor all the way down and it's flat against the chassis bottom.
Install a motor mounting clip overtop of the motor aligning its two sides into the slots in the chassis base. The motor clip's latch should be facing the gear box and the large motor clip flange should be facing the motor contacts.
Push against the motor clip flange to slide the motor clip far enough into the slot to provide a gap for the motor tool arms to enter.
Insert the points of the motor mount tool arms into the motor slot gaps from the bottom of the chassis, with the straight (bottom) of the arms against the motor mounting clip flange and the angled (top) of the arms against the chassis.
Holding the motor mount tool perpendicular to the chassis, press the motor mount tool arms into the chassis until the tool stops. This will slide the motor mounting clip over the gear box of the motor to hold it in place. Ensure the bump on the protruding motor clip latch hooks over the end of the N20 motor gear box – apply some pressure to the motor clip's flange if its clip is not fully over the end of the gear box.
