Description
Built on MakerWorld's Parametric Model Maker, GRIPS allows you to generate custom size Gridfinity baseplates. The GRIPS customizer automatically cuts the baseplate into pieces sized for your printer and adds jigsaw tabs so the pieces satisfyingly lock together.
Now with optional magnet support!
Instructions:
Download and print my test pieces profile above.
Avoid printing the test piece from the phone app as fit issues have been reported.
Use your desired material to confirm everything prints cleanly and fits together well.
On average, the tabs should fit snugly (some variation is normal). I have tested this on different materials and all worked well. If you run into issues where the fit is too tight, see the Interlock Type option in the customizer.
If using magnets, confirm that you are happy with the magnet fit. Also check that standard 1.75mm filament fits into the horizontal locking holes. If not, use the customizer to generate a 42x42mm grid, adjusting Magnet Options until you find settings that work for you.
Click on Customize, enter your needed baseplate size, enable magnets if you need them, check other settings, then click Generate.
If it looks good, click Download.
Open the 3MF / STL with Bambu Studio / your slicer.
If using the STL version of the customizer, you need to split the model and (auto) arrange the pieces.
Make manual adjustments to the arrangement of the pieces as needed (group small pieces onto one plate for example).
You should be ready to slice and print the plates.
Once all plates are printed, take your jigsaw pieces and assemble.
If using magnets, use the cutting guide and a razor blade/utility knife to cut short pins from standard 1.75mm filament. Fit pins into the horizontal holes to lock the parts into place. Needle nose pliers are recommended.
If using the M3 Screw & Nut interlock option, secure the pieces together with 8mm or 10mm long M3 screws and M3 nuts.
