For my game each 12 segments corresponded to the notes on a scale (A, A#, B, etc.),  The bolder marks the pointer and the “notes” that are lined up will do something (open a door, shake the ground, etc.)   Basically a fancy combination lock.  Printed without supports.  All rings sit on a central peg found on the base.
