WARNING: Requires soldering and may require minor wiring change.
LED strip mount featuring integrated baffles that block direct light from hitting the camera lens, reducing glare and preventing image washout for cleaner, more even lighting. Inspired by Voron 2020 versions but shrunk down to fit the extrusion of the Zero.
Required parts:
- 24V LED Strip, I used 8mm wide COB strip with a colour temperature of 4000k for a nice neutral “daylight” colour.
https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0D5QPRFXQ - 1.25mm JST PH connectors
https://www.amazon.com.au/Connector-1-25Mm-Female-Connectors-Circuit/dp/B08GQ7CTQS/ - Thin adhesive tape, I used 3mm 3M 300LSE as I had it on hand but 3 or 5mm would be fine.
Printing:
I'm not sure what will work well at the moment, I was worried about overhangs so printed at 0.12mm on my Bambu A1.
Assembly:
- Refer to pictures
- Cut LED strip to length, be sure to only cut at the marker lines
- Solder the JST connector on to the LED strip
- Slide the LED strip into the light bar
- Apply adhesive tape to both flat surfaces that will contact the extrusion
- Remove the original LED bar by undoing the 2 screws holding it onto the top extrusion
- Push the LED bar into place above the door
Your mileage may vary here, I found the light to be very dim when plugged into the original LED bar connector, I removed the back cover and inspected the connectors, I ended up moving the light cable to the FAN 2 header, this however is not a controllable output which is fine by me, its just a constant 24V.
