A fun project for those who want to keep their iPad cool for “cheap”!

• Cost of critical components: $133 (3D prints, battery, fans, switch, usb cables)
  • For additional bulk-order components (fasteners, springs, connectors), message me and I can mail a kit for cheaper. 
  • Better cooling (27.6 CFM) and cheaper compared to cases found elsewhere: 
    • Wombatware ($185), X-Naut ($250, $380), MyGoFlight ($200-$300+)
• Rocker switch allows for battery power or external power via Micro-USB
• Battery lasts for >6hrs on a single charge. Recharge via USB-C port
• Tested in the 100F Socal sun! Prevents overheating, even in direct sunlight! 

DIY required (See files for BOM & assembly tips): 

• Sanding (if necessary) to get components to fit. 
• Glue for USB-C cable and Micro-USB Connector.  
• Connecting wires from USB power to switch and fans. Requires crimping and/or soldering, electrical tape or heat shrink tubing (to cover exposed leads)

CAUTION: 

• When powering fans via micro-USB, use only 5V power sources (for example, do not adapt a 9V, 15V, or 20V PD USB-C to this micro-USB adapter). Exceeding 5V may result in fan damage or create fire risk. If unsure, test micro-USB power source with appropriate multimeter prior to connecting. 
• Test all electrical connections with a multimeter prior to energizing to mitigate possibility of short-circuits.
• Design provided "as-is" without any warranties or guarantees, and user assumes all risks associated with its use.
